A Midsummer Night’s Dream opens Thursday
Click to enlargeLove was in the air last week, with both Valentine’s Day and the opening of the winter play, William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
“This is a very romantic show. Everybody gets somebody in the end,” director Michael Shehorn said of the play, a humorous look at love and imagination which opened Thursday and ran through Saturday. Tickets were $3 for adults, $2 for students and senior citizens.
This was the first theater production in the auditorium since the stage area was renovated. In addition to dressing rooms and a deeper stage area, 154 additional seats were installed, bringing the seating capacity to 710, according to Shehorn.
“The biggest thing is that it’s given us workspace that’s not rehearsal space,” Shehorn explained, adding that productions can now utilize larger set pieces.
Jeff Bousson, Dan Badeda and Jordan Houtz played the fairies, while Aaron Sexton, R. J. Plotz, Sharon Gray and Kate Shehorn portrayed the four lovers.
