Taming
of the Shrew returns to ACHS stage
William
Shakespeare’s tale of a man who marries an ill-tempered woman for
her wealth and then seeks to break her will, The Taming of the Shrew,
is being presented Nov. 16-18 in the auditorium. The show was last seen
on the ACHS stage in 2000.
Zack
Siminonini plays Petruccio, who seeks to tame his bride Katherine, played
by Lissy Wennstrom. The play is directed by drama teacher Mike Shehorn,
assisted by Taylor Coull.
One
unique part of the production, Shehorn said, is the inclusion of the play’s
introduction, which sets up the main action as a play within a play. Most
performances leave this out, he explained.
Other
things to watch for are numerous set designs which emphasize duplicity,
which is important to the plot. Also, some characters are played out of
gender.
Admission
to the show is $3 for adults, $2 for students. The curtain goes up at 7
