The
Curious Savage, John Patrick’s warm-hearted 1950 comedy about
a woman whose plans for a large inheritance are at odds with those of her
children, debuts this week starting Thursday and runs through Saturday.
Starring senior Nicole
Hojnacki as Ethel Savage and directed by Lindsay Celaya, the play has been
updated by the cast and set in the present day, including cultural references
and dialogue. Junior Taylor Coull serves as student director for the 11-member
cast.
Judges from the Illinois
High School Theatre Festival will be attending a performance to evaluate
the production for possible inclusion in its annual workship at Illinois
State University. Because of this, the set’s components are designed
to be broken down, transported and reassembled, if necessary.
Performances start
at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for the public
and may be purchased at the door. |
