| Comedic
love story opens
on cue for Valentine’s Day
Charlie’s
Aunt, a comedy by Brandon Thomas first produced in 1892, opened Feb.
14 on the ACHS stage. Performances ran through Feb. 16.
Director Michael
Shehorn guides the cast in a story of two college guys, Charley and Jack,
who need a chaparone for their visit with two lovely girls. Charley’s
aunt agrees to supervise, but when she is delayed, one of their friends
masquerades as the aunt – with hilarious results.
Jon Heischberg
and Zack Simonini play Charley and Jack, while Noelle Bruce and Samantha
Charles play the two girls, Amy and Kitty. John Lichtwalt is Lord Fancourt
Babberly, and many other characters add to the laughs.
Told in three
acts, this farce enjoyed record runs in London and on Broadway before
being made as a film numerous times.
Admission for
the 7 p.m. performances each night was $5 for adults, $3 for students.
